Whoa! $200 install fee for new satellite customers

I'd like nothing more than to move to streaming, but until such time that the channel lineups are the same, or the last of the birds falls from the sky, I'm sticking with satellite.

    Will Me TV Toons survive?

I'm a fan of cartoons myself, having watched different kinds cartoons since I was only four years old as a form of escapism from the doldrums of everyday life. I'm glad there's another option for cartoons besides watching free streaming services, buying and watching/binge-watching DVD/blu-ray...

    Will Me TV Toons survive?

They do have a normal commercial load. And from what I am hearing they are doing very well, and have been adding a lot of new affiliates each month. Plus some cable systems are also starting to pick up the channel. I have this channel on a lot myself, fun to watch or have as background noise...

Whoa! $200 install fee for new satellite customers

Their streaming services barely have a million subscribers combined. What this will do, is cut down on new subscribers, which they need to offset the losses of the older subscribers, which will increase in the 4th quarter following the upcoming price increase ($8-10 a month) in October. This...

    Will Me TV Toons survive?

The channel is nearly three months old, having launched last Summer. It's too early in the game to tell if the new network succeeded or not. Most of the cartoons are aimed towards Generation X and Millennial viewers who watched those same exact cartoons as kids.

Whoa! $200 install fee for new satellite customers

If they want $200 for the satellite install for new customers and they are maybe doing that to encourage new customers to go with DTV via the Net or DTV Stream, why bother buying Dish? DTV Satellite won't survive with that $200 install fee. Unless they think their streaming services will survive?

    Joey keeps freezing

I’m replying to my own post because of course all I had to do was turn off the Joey and back on. Unplugged it for a few seconds plugged it back in now everything‘s fine. So it appears nothing is wrong with the hopper/DVR.

DIRECTV Transponder Map ~ Data 9/18/2024

FOX Weather doesn't have any localization, even the FOX O&Os who have it as a subchannel just pass the national ticker. Local on the 8s still exists on The Weather Channel, but the full screen version now only happens at :18 and :48. DIRECTV has been overlaying local weather over the full...

DIRECTV Transponder Map ~ Data 9/18/2024

Is that so they can localize forecasts? I haven't watched any weather channel on TV since forever, but I remember back in the day the Weather Channel on cable showed local forecasts every 10 minutes. It was inserted at the headend. During those "breaks" where cable would show local forecasts on...

Whoa! $200 install fee for new satellite customers

Do they offer self installs? I think they should have gone to charging for installs long ago, offering a rebate equal to the install after a year instead of locking people into contracts. All free installs did was raise the monthly price they had to charge, with all customers paying to...

DTV setup for a large house

The easiest path would be the HS17 which does not connect to a TV. You would need coax from the dish to the HS17. You use clients at each TV and they can be wired or wireless. Wired clients need coax. You can have 8 clients on the HS17 but can only watch 7 at a time. As far as the Gemini DIRECTV...

Whoa! $200 install fee for new satellite customers

I guess it’s the end of an era, website now shows an install fee for new customers on satellite - a $200 fee. Crazy, I guess they want you to stream or pay full-fare. Satellite new customers promo is also $5 higher than the stream via internet new customer price.

Columbus Ohio Stations bad Pixelation 9/17/24

Yesterday, September 17th, all of my Columbus, Ohio locals were breaking up and pixelating badly. There was no storm and satellite 119 spotbeam 10 had a strong signal strength of 58. DTV setup for a large house

I am not a Direct TV (DTV) customer but am trying to help an existing long-term Direct TV Satellite customer that is not tech savvy. I believe they first went to DTV as they had the best sports offerings. They subscribed to NFL, NBA, MLB, and a Sports package. They moved five years ago, so the...
