Does anyone get reliable 78 mile DTV OTA reception?

Just a mention that the Bengals will be blacked out yet again...must be some kind of record for the Bengals...maybe just listening on the radio might be less of a hassle...stay tuned...

Does anyone get reliable 78 mile DTV OTA reception?

I see that Winegard sells around $45 at Sears, maybe I will take a run there this weekend. Some 5 miles from here... the elevation drops several hundred feet to maybe 400 ASL or less. Is TV Fool that accurate in elevation calculations? We are about 900 ASL.

Does anyone get reliable 78 mile DTV OTA reception?

$53 is certainly an inexpensive antenna and looks to be well worth getting. The failure of this project was really mine on my part as if I did more planning and bought the antenna (s) in advance, better preamp, highers masts and guy wires... we could have watched the Bengals win over the Browns...

Does anyone get reliable 78 mile DTV OTA reception?

We threw in the towel on it. Could not get a peep out of WLKY 32 , (which we wanted) , but only got WDRB Fox 41 choppy in the rain which wasn't what we wanted to get the Bengals game. I am confident if I had the right antenna (like a parabolic UHF) with a quality mast mounted amp with the...

Does anyone get reliable 78 mile DTV OTA reception?

Well here is another update. WDRB 41 Louisville KY is coming in nicely, not fading out much ...pretty watchable at 78 miles. We boosted the antenna up another 12 feet and got a 33 db mast mounted amp and replaced the coax. The only problem is...41 Louisville is the only Louisville we can get...

Does anyone get reliable 78 mile DTV OTA reception?

Well, there is hope..but there is going to be a lot of work involved. I need to raise it up another 10 feet, replace the coax and see where I can go from here. As you can see from the pictures, I do get WDRB 41 Louisville KY at 78 miles. It is not viewable or reliable, however there is a...

Does anyone get reliable 78 mile DTV OTA reception?

I just ran another TV fool report, this time using the airport as the reference. I just noticed that WBDT 26 Dayton Ohio (52 miles) is really on channel 26 which is the same as WLKY 32 Louisville KY (78 miles) Co channel interference might be more of problem than just the distance. I'm going to...

Does anyone get reliable 78 mile DTV OTA reception?

Thanks for the information on the Channel Master Parabolic antenna. I think with that I would get constant reception from Louisville. Too bad no one makes a parabolic UHF anymore, I think it is needed now more than ever. I'll try do a followup on the results (if any) on the "Bengals Blackout...

Does anyone get reliable 78 mile DTV OTA reception?

Does anyone get reliable 78 mile DTV OTA reception? Here is my situation, the Bengals are blacked out yet again. But WLKY 32 out of Louisville will be showing them and Cincinnati and Dayton will not. I have a large fringe VHF/UHF antenna I can put up with the 25 db mast mounted amp that I use...

CTV from Newfoundland Canada seen in Portugal

CTV from Newfoundland Canada seen in Portugal on a double hop. This has to be one of the clearest receptions ever for a Trans Atlantic TV signal. This was received in Portugal just with an outdoor antenna and a NTSC compatible TV. This occurred June 17 2011. The person has received numerous...

    old archer vu-190 non-directional?

In my opinion, you need a 20 to 30 db mast mounted amp and use RG6 coax. I get most Dayton Ohio locals some 50 miles from me. If I didn't have a mast mounted preamp...they would not come in at all. Good Luck....

Using a Beam or Yagi Antenna to get stations about 70 miles away

In my opinion a mast mounted preamp is a must. I get most of the Dayton Ohio stations here in Northern KY with a mast mounted amp and a UHF Corner reflector. Without the mast mounted preamp , they do not come in at all. Dayton is some 45 to 50 miles from here.

    TV Skips season is here!!!

DX out to Grand Rapids MI Sat - July 3 DX out to Grand Rapids Michigan This reception was caused by tropo ducting/enhancement where warm air over riding a cool air mass creates causes 'ducts' where the signals propagate much further than normal. This is not skip...it is tropospheric ducting or...

I suggest using a mast mounted amp instead and like others suggested, with running a separate cable.

Laseradam , I am in Boone County, Unless I aim a high gain UHF antenna at it with a mast mounted amp...I can't get it either. I am going to get a separate UHF antenna with amp just for this channel as I don't want to lose reception of both Dayton and Cincinnati locals. I get some, not all of...
