Help Me Replicate Channel Surfing & Trailers

Go to Youtube and search movie trailers or TV trailers, depending on what you are looking for. Also, most streaming services have a recommendations section in the user interface that uses what you've watched (and liked) in the past to suggest other things you may like. Depending on what...

TV streaming box - best ones?

Yeah, I hear ya. When we decided to get rid of Dish, I tried out all the big name devices available at the time. We settled on the Firestick because it seemed pretty stable and we liked the remote the best. After about a year, we found that the stability was deteriorating, and they changed...

TV streaming box - best ones?

There are some 5Ghz channels the iPhone won't use because they are not licensed for use in the US. Many devices will still connect to and use them, but not all. This is just one possible reason for the issue you are seeing. I actually had wi-fi issues with my Shields and had to put them all...

My brother got one of these and had wi-fi issues. He tried adding a wi-fi extender, but no joy. Eventually he just got a Roku box and the problems went away.

TV streaming box - best ones?

Hmmm...well, I guess not. When I did a search earlier, I found a bunch of sites listing the best VPNs for Roku and NordVPN was usually the top choice, but when I bothered to actually read the sites, I found you have to have an intermediate device handling the VPN access, like a router. NordVPN...

Android is definitely the most customizable. As for the VPN functionality, all the major devices (except Roku) have VPN apps for the functionality you describe.

TV streaming box - best ones?

They are just testing it, so you may not see it right away. Same thing with the TV pause screen ads on other inputs they've been testing. We've only seen it once on the Roku TV in the kitchen which has an AppleTV connected. It works a lot like the pause screen ads you see on FireTV, except on...

TV streaming box - best ones?

Seems to be a problem on Peacock on a number of platforms. The first post in that thread is about Sony Android TVs for instance. Also, it seems you can get HDR with ATV4K if you switch manually to the correct mode before watching. Not ideal, but a workaround. The Peacock app does kind of...

TV streaming box - best ones?

Figured I should also add I used to have NVIDIA Shields. I sold them when they rolled out the new UI several years ago that had a lot more ads. Before that, I had Firestick 4Ks. I dumped them after the same kind of thing with a new UI including a lot more ads. Not sure what I'd do if Apple...

TV streaming box - best ones?

No issues here with either of those apps on any of my 4 AppleTV 4Ks. Hulu is another matter though. We watch all our Hulu content on Disney+ because it is so much better. Another thing to be aware of with AppleTVs is the way they handle audio which a lot of people don't like. It decodes...

What do you mean by loss of signal? Loss of Internet connection to your location? Loss of Wi-Fi signal? Loss of signal from the live source to Peacock's servers? I haven't noticed Peacock buffering any more or less than any other app recently. I rarely see any buffering at all any more.

    ABC does some chopping

This is very reminiscent of when I worked for a newspaper company. It didn't matter whether the editorial staff had a liberal or conservative slant, what drove layoffs was dollars, and the decline in revenue had everything to do with people moving to other news sources. Disney is in business...

    How things have changed

I think the problem is people see the switch to streaming as a permanent solution to the price gouging of linear TV. When the prices for streaming do inevitably go up, they are angry because they thought they solved the problem of increasing prices, but no one actually ever said streaming...
