    Suspicious Connection to Hopper3

No feathers ruffled here. I just think it’s unrealistic to expect people to do all that. It’s like when people complain about windows someone will always say well, just use Linux. Right, like that going to happen with a casual user. I’m familiar with what goes on with internet connections as I...

    Suspicious Connection to Hopper3

It sounds to me like OP’s software was accurate, not paranoid. Nobody needs connections to their hopper from Russia, except maybe Russians. Your suggestions are not realistic for the majority of users. Do you really think they are going to fire up a FreeBSD box and install and configure pfsense?

More and more streaming FAST channels on DISH

Not sure what changed, but these channels showed up on my box a couple of days ago. Lots of interesting stuff to watch. I gawped at Nigella for a while, but the history stuff is the best part so far.

    Primetime Anytime enables itself

    Eh, not really.

    Primetime Anytime enables itself

I just hit Home-Home-PTA-Disable. I’m guessing you’re right, maybe an update re-enabled it.

    Primetime Anytime enables itself

Well that’s cool, but it still has to write the stuff to disk, right? I would guess that could cause problems at times. I don’t know if it’s an SSD or regular drive in there. But there are many types of SSDs optimized for various purposes. Presumably that put something appropriate in the box...

    Primetime Anytime enables itself

I do have a Hopper 3. In my simple mind it makes sense to disable things I don’t need to maximize available resources, eg cpu and disk utilization, bandwidth etc. Maybe I’m just wasting my time, not sure. In part, I’ve been trying to figure out why the DVR function is so flaky. A lot of times...

    Primetime Anytime enables itself

I’m not going to bother with that, I’ll just deal with it. Just thought I’d ask.

    Primetime Anytime enables itself

Well that’s cool that you like it, but I don’t watch anything in prime time and have no need of recording anything in that time period, especially on local channels. Like I said, I’d rather tax the box as little as possible so that it can do what I want it do.

    Primetime Anytime enables itself

I can’t see how they don’t eat bandwidth. Why do they take less space than other shows? Are they mega compressed or something? I couldn’t do more than two things at a time on my old box with two tuner, so how do they record multiple shows with one tuner? I’d rather keep utilization on the...

    Primetime Anytime enables itself

I’ve disabled this “feature” a few times but it turns itself back on after some time. Has anyone else experienced that? I can’t see how it is useful to anyone. Does anyone really want to record everything in prime time every day?

More and more streaming FAST channels on DISH

I called them up about something else and asked about this too. The lady said you need the America’s top 120 pack or better to get those channels. She said we have the flex pack so we don’t get it. No big deal really, I can live without them. I just thought there might be some free stuff I...

I just looked, they are not locked. I guess it’s a subscription thing.

More and more streaming FAST channels on DISH

There’s nothing between 89 and 100. I’m told they may show up in a few days, so I guess I’ll just wait.

    I tried that, no change.

Pressing the rewind button jumps waaaaaaaayy back

Not the same thing, but I noticed if you use the Google function and tell it to ff or rw it just keeps ffing or rwing to the end. It used to do 10 seconds and then stop. I don’t use it but I taught my mother to use it because her vision is very poor and buttons are difficult for her. It’s...

Pressing the rewind button jumps waaaaaaaayy back

Ah ok, thanks for the clarification. I looked at the game for a minute, looks pretty good. My tv is decent, a fairly high end Sony.

More and more streaming FAST channels on DISH

It’s connected. We watch other streaming channels but we don’t have these fast things. I’m guessing it’s not part of our package.
