    DirecTV and Smart TV's

I guess my core question would really be, 'Do I need a newer Genie based DirecTV device to make the most of my Smart TV or will my HR-22/24 serve the purpose?'.

    DirecTV and Smart TV's

The Internet connection is really not a problem in the sense that I have a wired connection (via a switch/router setup) to all my devices around my TV (PS3, XBOX 360, DirecTV box, etc.) A youtube video showcasing the tv, shows that it has features which let you see: - how many minutes of shows...

    DirecTV and Smart TV's

I currently have an older 46 inch Sony which I am planning on replacing with a 60 inch Samsung Smart TV (Samsung UN60F8000). I am hoping you guys can give me some help with my question(s): - I have never had a Smart TV before and am not sure how the integration with DirecTV (or any other...

2 HD DVR's in Whole Home DVR?

You guys have any experience or opinions on this setup? I have a HR-22 and standard receiver now. I am looking to get a new 3rd receiver and also get the Whole Home DVR setup in my house. Thinking of getting a HR-24 for my basement (as my new 3rd receiver in the house) and swapping out...

    Which HD Receiver?

Thanks for the advice guys. So when I call DTV for the H24 HD receiver do I need to 'negotiate' a price or is it going to be a flat $99?

    Which HD Receiver?

Ah thanks. Well there goes that theory then. Guess I will have to call Directv and see if what they can offer me a new HD Receiver for. Guess it will be $100 but what really stinks is the $6/month fee.

Moved House no line of sight now I have too wait

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but the supervisor in my case DID NOT come with any hardware. He could not perform the install but set it up for a week later.

    Which HD Receiver?

Oh really? Darn. I was of the impression that If I bought it I would not need to pay the 'lease' fee as they put it in my bill. In that case is there really a point in buying it outright as opposed to leasing it? I mean outside of the contract that you tag along with the leasing. At least with...

Moved House no line of sight now I have too wait

I feel your pain but unfortunately this is how it works. About 2-3 years back I decided I wanted HD (upgrade from SD) and was told there was no LOS. 2 Supervisor visits in a month confirmed this. I was told by the 2nd supervisor that I would have to wait about a year till DTV is done with its...

    Which HD Receiver?

I currently have a HR-22 in my living room and a standard receiver (not sure of model #) in my bedroom. Both of those receivers are leased. I am interested in running a DTV line to my basement (man cave?) so that I can watch tv while working on the PC. I do not have a line running to the...

    Slimline 3 LNB Dish

Do you guys think its a good idea for me to call the Local Installer and ask him if I buy my own Slimline 3 LNB, will they install it for me? Thanks. -Akshay

    Slimline 3 LNB Dish

Ah .. so unless I am being a doofis, the SL5 will be trying to get a signal from 110/119 even if it is configured as a SL3. Which means I am going to end up having the problems with the DirecTV guide that some other users have mentioned. Is there a way around this? Thanks. -Akshay

    Slimline 3 LNB Dish

Oh! So essentially if you have a SL5 dish but the software has an option to select SL3 then everything should be ok? Am I understanding this correctly? Thanks. -Akshay

    Slimline 3 LNB Dish

Well .. I sure am hoping that a 5 LNB dish works without LOS to 110/119. I guess it depends on what the Tech. decides, even though the Field Supervisor pretty much told me that this should work fine. I have read about a few problems with the guide(s) being on 110/119 and me having problems...

    Slimline 3 LNB Dish

Hey rad, Just got off the phone with their Field Supervisor. Now what he told me did not match up with the Tech. guy who has been coming over for LOS or Installs. He basically said that I am fine with a Slimline 5 LNB and I should get HD no problem except that the only channel I cant get is the...

    Slimline 3 LNB Dish

Thanks mate. I just did that and their Field supervisor is on site right now but is supposed to call me whenever. One thing the last tech. said though was that my getting a 3 lnb depends on whether the directv warehouse has them or not. This kind of baffled me because isnt that something that...

    Slimline 3 LNB Dish

Thanks for the reply. So is there a way I can call Directv and specifically request for the 3 LNB Slimline dish? I tried talking to Customer service but they were not too sure of what dish i was getting except for a Slimline. I was able to make her understand as to why I needed a 3 LNB dish...

    Slimline 3 LNB Dish

Hello, I live in Clinton, WA (Zip 98236) and have LOS issues to the 119 satellite. The DirecTV tech. who was over 2 weeks back to replace a faulty Multi Switch at that time looked at the LOS issue and told me that I should have no problem with the Slimline 3 LNB dish. I had then gone ahead and...

    Quick Satellite and LOS question.

I live on the West Coast (WA state, Zip 98236) and actually have had a Line of Sight problem in the past with the 110/119 satellites. The DTV tech. that had come over last year had told me that I cant get HD till they move the Satellites over and use the 3 Slimline LNB Dish (pulling this from...

    New DirecTV satellite!

I tried to get the HD channels setup on DTV last year but was unsuccessful in doing so because of LOS issues. The technicians very plainly told me that since I dont have LOS to the 119 satellite, the only way I can get HD is if DTV moves all their HD channels to the 99 or 103 satellites (the...

Correct. Have an SD DirecTV DVR. Cannot get HD where I live because of LOS issues. Correct I have a 36" LCD WideScreen tv. I am pretty sure that I went into my DVR's settings right around when I got my new TV (WideScreen) last December and changed the setting there to 16:9. All my channels...

    World Cup cricket 2007

Am at work now so not sure about the DirecTv receiver but I know that its about 2.5 years old, from Hughes and that it is a DVR. My picture is widescreen without any bars and I did not have to change any specific settings on either my TV or DVR to change the same. Everything in every other...

    World Cup cricket 2007

I do have a flat panel 36" screen and maybe that is the reason I have not noticed any issues with the Cricket Matches. However, keep in mind that the resolution on a computer monitor may not be as clear as a TV would be due to the higher resolution that most of the monitors allow as opposed to TV's.

    World Cup cricket 2007

Thanks for mentioning ur method. I will definitely give that a shot. Things are a little lucky for me since my wife wakes up for work around the time the matches start. I generally leave about 2 hours before that so cannot record them. My wife recorded the 2 games by going to the channel right...
