    Better HD picture Quality

811 has poor 1080i to 720p scaling I also get the same results... much better picture on 1080i broadcasts by setting my 811 to output 1080i and let my 50" Samsung 720p DLP set do the scaling. It's the 1080i to 720p scaler in the 811... it's simply poor when compaired to doing the same...

    Looking for some help.

SD picture quality via DISH Unfortunatly, I'm afraid your expectations of satellite broadcast SD picture quality are not in line with what DISH (or D*) broadcasts. The SD channels you receive via satellite are all compressed.... some more than others... but they are all compressed and carry...

    Dish 811 - P282 Update

P282 kills almost 1/2 my OTA stations My P282 problems are awful, but a bit different. I don't have issues when I change OTA channels except for certain ones... 1) One local OTA station (strong >90), when tuned to via the guide or direct, now immediatly goes into a flashing BSOD cycle of...

    TNTHD aspect ratio problem

If you are using component inputs on the sammy, you can compress it back to normal with the "Aspect" button on the sammy remote... If you are watching via DVI, that button does not work tho...

811 Outputs DVI vs YPbPr Component

DVI is preferred on DLP, LCD and Plasma On my Samsung HLN507W DLP, DVI delivers defintely better sharpness on native HD content. You can find lots of 6' DVI cables on e-bay for less than $10.00 shipped. You do not need to spend big $$$ on DVI cables, especially if you don't need one over...

811 - Border on DVI pic on Samsung DLP

I agree that on my HLN507W Samsung DLP and 811, the PQ is much better on 1080i material when the 811 is set to 1080i and let the set scale it to 720p. The only time 720p looks better in my setup is when the broadcast is in 720p. Also, I get noticably better resolution on native HD...

    811 OTA problem?

What version software is it running? When my 811 was on 263, it did that every day... On version 264, it has not happened once.

New 811 OTA Problem...Have you seen this?

YEp... I've seen it ... Yes... it happens to me about once a week. I found that switching to a satellite SD channel clears it up. Switching to a satellite HD channel will not clear it up for me.

OTA HD Darker than Sat HD

My only A/B comparison is with CBS-HD. They look the same in brightness to me. After I started watching OTA digital, I noticed that a LOT of network programming is very dark, back lit, etc... and with strange colors ... I have a 32" Sony SD set next to my Samsung HD set... and sometimes I'd...

Time to trade my 6000 for 811??

Jeff, I have a 50" Samsung DLP and an 811. The component connection looks great, but the DVI connection looks even better. It's especially noticable on native HD content. After doing MANY A/B comparisons with the 811 between the component and DVI outputs to the DLP set, the DVI is definitely...

811 Still has terrible OTA problems

811 and Digital OTA works good for me FWIW... My 811 works great for my OTA digital needs. I'm receiving all 7 OTA digital stations available in my market ... and with the 811, I receive one digital station OTA that I could not receive with my 6000 and the same antenna. I don't experience...

811 Still has terrible OTA problems

DVI is worth the trouble! DVI is definitely better than component when feeding my rear projection Samsung DLP.. I would go for the DVI with plasma, LCD, or DLP/LCD rear projection. BTW, DVI cables are not expensive... use e-bay... Cheers!

Does everyone hear agree that the SD Picture Quality flat out sucks for a RPTV?

A *good* cable system's analog SD picture should be better than a DBS's SD picture due to compression artifacts in the DBS.... but good cable systems can be hard to find. If your cable feed is what it should be, I'm not at all surprised that it's better than DBS.

    811 Lost Wing Satellite

    a) A large number of 811's simultaneously lost only one (148) wing sat b) All were working previously c) None have reported a code upgrade in the 811 with their symptoms d) Multiple receiver swap-outs around the nation have not helped All these things point to a change outside the 811...

    811 Lost Wing Satellite

    Sbc / Dish Network - It's Coming!

BellSouth and Direct TV kicked off their bundle plan about 30 days ago. It's not very attractive... it's not even selling well with BellSouth employees, who get an extra $99 rebate over 3 months as a "special" deal....
