So I get up to this today. Some crack head stole my dish last night. It was there 11:30 last night when I got home from work and gone at 8 this morning. I'm seriously p#ssed off about this.

Any neighbors that have security camera's pointing your way that you could check with? Or call your local scrap yard QUICKLY and ask if someone brought one in.

I hate to say this, but if someone that way has those sorts of balls, it'll likely happen again if you setup another one.

No cameras half the houses on my block are empty. Already called the scrap yards and was told they don't disclose that information to protect the privacy of their customers aka they take stolen stuff

Outrageous!!! Someone has brass cajones!!!

Believe it or not, a satellite dish likely is considered a "valuable metal" in your state.

File a police report and take a photo of the dish to the scrap yards along with a copy of the report. Receiving "valuable metal" products is controlled in Indiana and most states. The business must maintain and share records with authorities. See your state laws in this link: Scrap Metal Laws By State - Windfield

MAN!! So sorry to hear!
Yes, do what Brian said and let us know if there are any leads.

Unfortunately the police won't do anything here so I'm on my own on this. Scrapers around here are known to take things off people's property and have been caught on camera but the police don't care cause they think there taking junk so no value. Our police here is pretty lazy. It's a joke for to say let's send the police to own side of the county then rob the bank lol.

Colton I am sorry that they took your dish like that I live in a bad neighborhood to and Brian is right. We have laws here against scrappers because idiots were stealing manhole covers and copper from power substations. We are fellow hoosiers if you need help you have my number I have some leads on some dishes I can get for you to help replace what you had.

Wow, that sucks. If they're not way far away from you, contact the State police, not the local town police. Around here, far better results are gained with the state police, rather than local.

Man, that really stinks! I've been following the thread and know how much time you put into getting a dish and setting it up and then some %$!&^* comes along and steals it... I know the chances are slim but I hope you can get it back in usable condition. If not and you get another dish maybe install a cheap night vision camera system or trail camera or a motion activated alert system.

I work with CCTV if you are interested in some advice setting up your own system. I have a 4 camera system up at my apartment.

Wonder if wiring an electrial fence to one would hurt reception? This the first time.i ever heard of someone stealing a cband dish. Price of scrap. Must be through the roof in your area.

Dont want to hijack thread. I have a few amcrest indoor cams. Working great. I am considering a amcrest nvr. To work with a few outdoor amcrest ip cams i have bought. Might have to ask for your suggestions.

I have cameras all around my house and a six foot chain link fence around half my property. As an added precaution, I installed 3 laser trip wires that bounce all over the place from mirror to mirror. So far, I've caught 2 deer, 5 cats, a raccoon, a bobcat, 3 black bears, a skunk, three or four rabbits and an owl milling around after they interrupted the laser beam. I had to set it a bit higher off the ground to avoid getting up all hours of the night to see what set it off.

My cameras have a 100 meter infrared range at night, so I can see pretty well around the house at night. It's kind of fun to sit up at night and see what's around the house. All those little critter eyes glowing in the cameras.
