Up grading (finally) from 2 VIP 722s to Hopper 3 with no more than 4 Joeys. Possible future upgrade to a 4k TV in one of the rooms in the future.

Zip code 541.

Have a 1000.4 with a DPP EA LNB. Current sats: 77W, 61.5 and 72.7. (I did that install as well).

I believe I will lose the 77 sat., but that is no big deal, correct?

I have a 1000.2 I am going to be using instead of the 1000.4 because I am told the DPH LNB won't work with the 1000.4.

Here is what I have so far to do the change:

1000.2 Dish.

DPH LNB

Dish Pro Hybrid Solo Hub. (Splitter(s) for future install(s) of Joeys).

I will use the existing RG 6 and put terminators for any ports I am not using. Have a friend with a Super Buddy for peaking signal.

Am I missing any hardware?

Thanks, Ed.

I believe you can only have 3 joeys per hopper. Other than that you should have everything. Maybe Hipkat can clarify on the Hopper to joey ratio.
Dish will let you lease 5 Joeys with an H3, but you can buy a 6th (And possibly 7th) for $50.00

You can also save your .4 LNBF by using a DPH 42 Switch as shown here

The DPH42 is compatible with Hopper 3?

HipKat I finally got the DPH 42. I am going to use the DPH LNB and 1000.2 at the cottage some year.

Questions:

Does it make a difference which LNB cable(s) I plug into the 1,2,3 and 4 inputs on the DPH42?

I currently have the 3 DPP LNB leads running into a combiner, then 2 leads run out to 2 722's. I can't remember why my satellite buddy recommended we do that. Something about bypassing the DPP44 (that was broken at the time) he said that the switching would take place in the LNB. Anyway, it has worked for the last 8 years. Does it make a difference which lead I use to run the host Hopper 3?

Finally, your diagram shows the power inserter running through the solo hub to port 1 on the switch. Every other diagram I saw the inserter runs directly from the inserter to port 1 on the DPH42. I know you're correct but why is that?

With a DPH LNBF, you have to use port 1 for the Hopper 3. If you use DPP with the 42 switch, on Eastern Arc, you only use ports 1 & 2 (2 satellites) on Western Arc, all three outputs (3 Satellites). Same goes for a 44 switch.

As fprt he diagram, I brought that up on the tech portal and was told it can either way, but myself, I think I'll follow the diagram whenever I use a 42 switch
