EchoStar/Dish raises doubts about 'ability to continue as a going concern'

Right. And in the interim the banks interest is ensuring Dish doesn't play a shell game with assets to devalue their investment or diminish the plummeting value of what collateral they have left. “Through a brazen series of related transactions,” billions of dollars of assets were transferred...

EchoStar/Dish raises doubts about 'ability to continue as a going concern'

Dog will write it off and move on like it's any other Thursday. (not a great analogy in the first place IMO) Doubt the banks are overly concerned here, just doing their due diligence. It's Dish trying to find a way to be viable going forward without a very clear path to doing so. The dog...

EchoStar/Dish raises doubts about 'ability to continue as a going concern'

Strip it for parts and move on, continuing to do business as usual? The real question is what will happen to the car.

    NFL 2024-2025 Season

They're doing what they feel will maximize revenue. None of this is surprising and I'll be happy to subscribe in the short term to access the content I'd like to watch as long as it makes sense financially when the time comes. Whatever doesn't work out, doesn't. They'll pivot and find another...

EchoStar/Dish raises doubts about 'ability to continue as a going concern'

What I don't see coming however, is those content providers closing up their direct to consumer shops and sticking with the middlemen. They will adjust, bundle and merge to find the right mix to create a sustainable business model. They aren't going back to only the middlemen, and as a result...

    Auto Racing 2024

ESPN is only paying $75-90m/year to broadcast F1 on ABC/ESPN though 2025, which includes more than each grand prix, as the lead up to each race is several hours of content over a few days.

    Vegas, the sports town?

Yes, regardless of the outcome of the effort for the Athletics to build a stadium, Bally's will be doing something else w/ the Tropicana site and that hotel is done. Bally's and the Athletics are still hashing out many details about the footprint and layout of the site while the Athletics...

EchoStar/Dish raises doubts about 'ability to continue as a going concern'

Think this remains to be seen. For the pay TV business in particular, it's not clear what a sustainable service looks like and at what point providers will stop losing customers and return to a manageable level of churn.

EchoStar/Dish raises doubts about 'ability to continue as a going concern'

They have cards to play, but it's not a pretty hand and most probably won't be happy with the result.

    Vegas, the sports town?

The same type of people who would have rather not seen Allegiant Stadium or Terminal 3 at LAS lose in court for perhaps a final time to prevent the A's from receiving their tax credits (if the project even happens). There is no schools bill that wasn't funded because of the effort to bring the...

Latest CME causing issues with satellites?

It's the most significant solar storm in more than 2 decades. Some interreference, at least in the form of lower tolerances for faults is to be expected. That being said, operators of all things vulnerable to this kind of thing have been spending the last 2 decades preparing for just this kind...
