Response from E* on TBS HD

Charlie i've waited 14 years to see the Phillies in the playoffs, get on your ass and get me TBS-HD by Wednesday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh yeah TBS-HD mostly shows stretched SD like TNT-HD and all those Discovery networks, so what's another one to the lineup eh?

They are planning to add 10-15 new HD channels a week - almost every week until the end of the year.
I remember hearing stories about D* adding many HD LIL on a quick schedule late last year. I advocate that you don't get overly excited about D*'s plans.

I wouldnt either. Plans change all the time but DirecTV is promising quite a few things for October. We will see. If they keep it people can still argue till hell freezes over about the picture quality and stretch-o-vision and all that good stuff. However like it or not even if they simply get the channels going and work on content later its a point in their favor in the HD battle.

I want to tune into HD MLB playoffs and Dish not providing them is a point taken away. If they havent done it already, I would advise DirecTV to put out adds saying Dish "dropped the ball again" and they are the only DBS provider that has the playoffs in HD. Nothing succeeds like being kicked in the ass by the competition.

I just got a response from them too. They didn't even bother to put my name on it though. For some reason they addressed it to Eric VanLaethem who you guys have gotten emails back from.

Dear Mr. Eric VanLaethem,

Thank you for your email. We apologize for the delayed response. We understand your concerns. We would like to add that channel in HD sooner to make viewers like you happy. However we do not have any specific information regarding your inquiry. Please understand that it is our intent to add a variety of programming and services to please current and future subscribers. We will gladly forward your request to our Programming Department for further consideration.

We thank you for your input as we continually review our options in order to provide a compelling lineup for our viewers. Please logon to our website for future programming announcements.

We thank you for allowing us to be of assistance to you. If you have any further questions or concerns, please refer to DISH Network -- Home or reply to this email.

Sincerely,

Remember during the NBA playoffs on TNT they kept running promos for "House of Payne/Tyler Perry show" on TBS and if they didn't say it was HD the image was definately in high def. I think I can hold back my tears for the lack of TBS-HD on E*. At least until they convert all the old syndicated shows into high def which they should be done about the time we have 3D TV.

But, Scott, my question will NHL network be HD and SD, just SD, or just HD? The D* thread thinks it'll launch today.

As far as tbs hd is concerned. You probably need to get another gut feeling.:)

Probably so, but my local Time Warner Cable just added TBS and CNN HD this past week, and they never add anything HD (basically these two and ESPN2 in the last year), so my gut is still telling me Wednesday so that Charlie can have some sort of a response to, by my count, the 12 HD channels that D* added last week that E* doesn't yet carry.

Let me know when those "HD" channels on D* are really HD and I'll come flying on over.

More like D* added a bunch of channels for the HD illiterate.

Please define what you consider a HD channel? I've seen a bunch of posts from folks saying that D* isn't adding HD channels but calling them HD. Yep, a lot of the channels are not 24x7 HD channels but I've seen at least something in HD on each and every one of them.

Most of them are already in full time HD. As to the ones that arent, Most people knew they would be like this for a while anyway, wouldnt be any different on Dish, cable , FIOS, or Direct.

not arguing that. It's stretchovision, cropovision, or whatever you wanna call it on all providers. That's why personally, I'm in no rush to get them.

But this thread is about TBS, which I could understand people wanting it, even if only the baseball is HD. I'm not even a baseball fan but I'd rather see that than Lou Dobb's beauty marks in HD.

No Signal! Sat "X" UPSET!

More hd from Dish? Hard to tell
