Because they are in threads where one wouldn't look to see if HBO is 50% off. This way instead of reading every thread on the off chance of a deal being posted they see it in the list of threads. Also it's noteworthy enough to have its own thread.

Thanks for posting this. If not for a dedicated thread, this information would not be seen except for the 1% of members that read all post and know the tangents that get started buried in other threads.

I got the 1/2 off deal and it's just what I've been waiting for to happen!

thanks, I got the promo through chat. Probably took15 min. total time. If not for this thread, I would not have known about the promotion.
 
Yeah last night I waited like 10 minutes got a rep that was in multiple chats that disconnected me before completing the process and then I had to wait another 10 minutes to get another rep who didn't seem as busy and got it done quickly. So a good 30ish minutes for me.

Head scratching why all the bother to get it done NOW, and wait wherever, while still in free preview.

I signed up for 1/2 off HBO & 1/2 Showtime for 6 months too,because Penny Dreadful starts back on May 3rd. It took around 10 minutes to do an online chat because I was like 83 in the queue. So there must be a lot of people trying to get the 1/2 off deal. So now all I need to do is get some money off for 6 months on my DISH bill around May 13th and I will be set for the next 6 months. :oldsmile2

*Oh and I still have Free HBO NOW on my I pad for the next few weeks and then I will cancel that one. DISH gets my business as long as they keep HBO at 1/2 price or less.
 
This is great! I have been begging my wife for HBO for weeks and was told there were no deals - this one was too good to pass up. My DVR is about to get a workout.
