X-Box, Playstation, and Wii Game News

It's one of the few GOOD examples of "games as a service." Nintendo is doing the same thing with Splatoon. I should jump back into that sometime.

You may be better off starting with 2. Nearly all the reviews basically mention that 3 is just more of 2, 2 is much cheaper (it's put on sale constantly) and there's a bunch of MODs available for it.

Yeah, I think I got Just Cause 2 for about $2. I've never actually launched it though.

Just Cause 2 was one of the original free Instant Game Collection games for PS Plus members. It was free for several months before it got rotated out, so if you had Plus anytime in the second half of 2012, there's a good chance you have it in your download list.

EDIT: I have yet to launch it myself, though I've always been interested.

Capcom has confirmed that the new RE2 will be a Remake, not a Remastering. Apparently there was some confusion because of a badly translated investor's report. Considering the game is 17 years old and has no reusable assets (or at least assets that wouldn't WANT to be reused) I don't see how anyone would think it would be anything other than a complete remake. Maybe we'll have something by Christmas of 2017.

As expected, quite a bit of news and trailers coming from the Game Awards last night. Not worth flooding this thread when them all, ranging from a new TellTale Batman Game, Psychonauts 2, Rocket League for XB1, The Witcher 3 winning GOTY, Konami being Konami, etc. Here's a rundown of all the important stuff.

A TellTale Batman game is the most surprising bit of news to me. That or a Shaq Fu sequel. I'm just surprised they worked out a deal with DC when their Marvel game hasn't even had a release date announcement yet.

I wonder if Rocket League on Xbox One will feature cross platform play with the PS4 and PC versions. I'm skeptical that Sony and Microsoft are going to make that work. Cross platform play is big for a game like that though. Without it Xbox players won't be able to benefit from the big player base on PC and PS4 and the game won't stay relevant on that platform as long as it will on the other platforms, especially if it isn't part of Games With Gold.

Dying Light is getting an Enhanced Edition in 2016, with improved graphics, AI, more moves, and all the DLC/content updates included. If you have the original game then you get all this stuff for free, which sort of confuses me. Does that mean that if you have the base game vanilla you're now going to get ALL the DLC and added content for free now? In any case, at least they're not screwing over current owners of the game.

That's the way the article reads but I doubt they will give everyone the DLC for free after they just increased the price of the season pass. I think this will be more like the enhanced edition of Witcher 1 and 2 on PC. They upgraded the games visually and in the gameplay and voice acting departments.

If you buy the enhanced edition you will get all the DLC for sure but my guess is that the free upgrade will just be the enhancements and not the DLC. Either way it's cool to see them follow CD Projekt Red's lead on this.

Battlefield 4 is getting a Holiday Patch, including a free map

Nice. I think I might get back into Battlefield 4. I love the aesthetic of Battlefront but BF4 is still the best of those kinds of games for me.

It's pretty telling that they are still doing these kinds of updates outside of the Premium edition that were never promised for BF4 but you never hear of anything like this for Hardline.

The new map (part of The Legacy Operations) is now available on all platforms.

Looks like the bitter divorce between Konami and Hideo Kojima is finally over. According to the Nikkei, Kojima is done as of December 15th and will be opening up his own studio and is in talks with Sony.

It's great that Hideo can now go back to making games, but I'd prefer that he not do it with Sony. His work should not be limited to just Playstation owners.
