XBOX One Owners Thread

Well this is rather annoying. RB4 won't support wired controllers at launch (except for microphones.) So it's technically impossible to play the game with ANY legacy equipment without having you pay $20 extra for the adapter, unless you just want to turn the thing into SingStar and just use the mic..

If you were thinking about upgrading to the New Xbox One Experience early you might want to rethink that. Because there are still so many issues with it you don't automatically get this just by being in the preview program. You have to first be invited by Microsoft and then manually opt in. I received my invitation last night but thankfully I read the known issues before I opted in. I'll wait for this stuff to be ironed out first or just wait for the public release. You aren't removed the preview program if you don't opt in you just won't be switched to the new UI yet.

The main thing that kept me from pulling the trigger is that Destiny The Taken King is one of the games specifically called out as not functioning properly with the new update and I'm playing that a lot.

The main reason people may want to upgrade is because this is the release where the 100+ promised backwards compatibility games go live. That's not enough reason for me to make my system a buggy mess though.

I'm opted in, can't wait.

Good luck. It sounds like most of the problems can be solved with hard resets.

I'll probably opt in before general release too but they said there was going to be system updates twice per week at the beginning. That many system updates along with a ton of bugs is more hassle than it's worth to me. I'll wait until things slow down before I go for it.

If you are thinking about buying an Xbox One you might want to wait until next week. Microsoft is going to announce a new holiday bundle each day from Monday to Friday next week.

Edit: This will be the first test to see if they are going to switch to physical copies of games in their bundles to support Gamestop's new policy.

Seems kind of small for a huge game like Fallout. Hell Knack was 33GB.

Here is a website I found that has the install size for every Xbox One and PS4 game. You can sort by GB to see all the biggest ones. One flaw they have is that their sort feature doesn't understand the difference between GB and MB so it just sorts by the highest number. It looks a little wonky because it puts a Riptide GT2 at the top at 203MB in front of all the truly giant games. Still it's interesting to look at.

Here is the Xbox One list. Halo: The Master Chief Collection is the largest game at 62.74GB.

Here is the PS4 list. Battlefield Bundle is the largest at 74.273GB but that's actually two Xbox One games so I would say the actual largest game is Diablo III at 58.375GB.

Well I'm all but certain that my Xbox One is borked. It keeps disconnecting my controller, but it appears to be connected to my networking because when I go offline, the problem goes away. It doesn't appear to be fully disconnecting me from XBL because it happened when I was doing Halo Co-Op online and the game didn't die and I was able to hear the continuing action. This was a big problem some months ago, then it went away, and now it's back. My warranty expires on November 4 so I'm going to contact M$ to fix it because I'm not using a console that only functions properly when offline. Luckily the next 2 games coming my way are for PS4.

That's tough. Hopefully the process doesn't take too long but with shipping each way it can't be that fast. I had a somewhat similar issue happen last night but not quite as extreme.

When I tried to fire up my Xbox One for some Destiny last night the console didn't turn on after holding the button down on my controller. This has happened to me a few times in the last month or so. When I turned the console on by saying "Xbox On" the controller still refused to pair with the system. In the past I have sometimes been able to fix this by holding the sync button down on the console and the controller. Another fix in the past has been to plug in with the USB charge cable. In the past once I got the controller to connect over USB it would stay paired over wireless when I unplugged it. Neither of these fixes would work last night.

First, I assumed that this was a problem with my Xbox so I was thinking about contacting Microsoft like yourbeliefs. Before I did that I decided to grab the Xbox One controller I had been using as a wired controller on my PC. When I hit the sync button on the console and this controller it immediately paired to the Xbox One. I turned it on and off several times since trying this and it worked perfectly every time. Luckily it looks like it was my controller that went bad and not my Xbox.

For now I can use the controller with broken wireless as a wired controller on my PC. I have had the wireless adapter for PC pre-ordered since the day they announced it though because I don't want to play with a wired controller in 2015. Looks like I'm in the market for a cheap Xbox One controller sometime between now and November when the wireless adapter finally comes out.

Well if there's any bright side, it's that all existing pre-orders will be honored, and I have the feeling that 90% of the people who were planning on pre-ordering already have done so. I am curious to know WHY this is going down. Doing this only hurts both parties involved so odds are it's over something EXTREMELY stupid and petty.

My guess is that is has something to do with them switching to Sony as their marketing partner after all these years using Microsoft. Every Call of Duty ad for years has featured an Xbox logo at the end. Xbox gamers also got all DLC 1 month early. Now all the ads will feature Sony's logo and PS4 gamers get the DLC a month early. It's gotta have something to do with that.

I'll say it again, timed exclusives on DLC are stupid. Unless you only play COD you aren't going to buy 1 system over the other just to get DLC a month earlier. Both sides pay the same amount of money for a season pass and one side is treated worse even though they are a loyal customer.

Since the people I play COD with every year have PS4s this will be the first time I won't be negatively affected by this marketing deal. It sucks for Xbox One owners though.

Has there been any press about that with any actual facts in it? Amazon just doesn't sell Xbox One digital codes for whatever reason, I'd have assumed this was a listing mistake.

I would have thought that was maybe it but the article says the pre-order was also pulled from the Xbox One digital marketplace. Basically you can't pre-order the game for Xbox One as a download from anyone anymore. It is still available to pre-order digitally on PS4 from both Amazon and the PS4 online store.

If you want to pre-order on Xbox you have to buy a physical copy.

I don't think it has to do with that, and if it did, I think it would have been resolved a while ago, since this marketing partnership started a while ago.
