So, I'll probably be bringing home one or more 7.5ft mesh dishes in the next week or 2.
I'm looking for a positioner, actuator (18 or 24"? - my view is 82-139deg), prime focus Ku LNBF, RG6 ribbon cable (150ft)
Anyone recommend a place to start?

The hard part is finding the conversion bracket. I use the LNBF above with a 6 footer that came with the bracket. Wait, good old Amazon:

Amazon product ASIN B00TSEI2SQ

Thanks for that link. Too bad nobody is making a PLL version. Is the Invacom C120 much better? - I can't help but notice it is only available in europe and costs 6x the price.

I originally was trying to get an Invacom, but like you said you have to order from Europe and expensive.
Then I tried the Ku side of a Chaparral Corotor II, but the LNBF I posted above gave the same Q, so I used it instead.

Want Ku Prime Focus in PLL?
Norsat makes PLL LNB (Somewhere between $200-$300, cant recall the correct part no.),
then pair it with a Ku only feedhorn ($100),

Control Polarity Servo and actuator with this:

Positioner.... :everybodydanceTitanium :D
Actuator - Venture or Von Wiese
Got C-band for the ribbon cable.
The Inverto Black Pro is the best voltage switched polarity LNB in my opinion. Pair that up with an Invacom ADF-120 adjustable prime focus feedhorn for the best o the best... :)

I can't find anywhere, or at least the usual places, to get either a Venture or Von Wiese. Most dealers are out of stock for actuators, it seems.
I'm looking for a 18".

Buy a 24" actuator right away.

You'll need it when you upgrade to a 10' dish, after you find out the 7.5' probably isn't quite big enough, lol.

Gave a 'like' for that gem. Price difference isn't that much in most cases. I just ordered a 24" venture ball screw from Rick's Satellite. We'll see how long it take to get here.

CRAP! I just realized they both say SuperJack after it says Venture.I give up.

I see an 18" Venture on Ebay for $79.95 plus shipping from Summit Source in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

I know nothing about Summit Source...maybe the pros here can advise? 99.8% Positive feedback on Ebay though.

UPDATE: summitsource.com has one on sale for $58.95

I'm doing my best at selling the concept of a 7.5, a 10 footer would not fly. I just found another perfect dish on the Res, though only a 6 ft.

Selling the concept to who? The wife? Get you a 10ft or 12 ft dish.If she looks upset about the size ... take a tape measure and measure the focal distance.
And say: "Wow honey, this is only like a 3 footer ...sure glad I didn't get a big one ! " :crowdbounce

Sometimes ya gots to think outside the box. ;)

Research before you buy. There are different models of actuators. The ball screw version will outlast all of us with proper maintenance. The standard acme screw is similar to any other entry level actuator. Perfect example of you you get what you pay for! :)

I am pretty sure that the Venture Super Jack was discontinued some time back, so that product may be NOS (New Old Stock). Summit has been around for a long time, so I have no reason to suspect that they are not shipping the Venture Super Jack. Be aware that the Super Jack name is often copied by other manufacturers, so be careful that you know what you are buying.

These guys are ok, though they seem to be having a slight problem with their website right now. Scroll down.

P.S. I would NOT buy the Venture 18" actuator. It's a relabeled imported Chinese model, and not even a Venture. I wouldn't trust that particular one for strength, though it may be ok. ALL their other actuators are built by them, and are fine. I'm partial to the ball-screw model myself. Pricey, but you won't have to replace it in your lifetime.

Replacement parts are available for most of the 18" and 24" (USA) Venture actuators. So, even if you buy the 'cheaper' acme model and strip the nut for the screw drive, the actuator can be repaired.
