Video Game Deals

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is also one of the featured deals today. It's 50% off at $29.99. I would consider it at that price if the season pass was also getting a 50% discount but that is still full price. It's pretty common for DLC to get the same percentage discount as the base game when it's for sale on Steam.

Since I'm already working on too many games right now and there is no discount on the season pass I'll wait for a better discount on both.

I just picked up Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director's Cut from the Steam sale. It was 80% off at $3.99 and the money I have gotten from selling off the free inventory stuff Steam constantly gave me over the last couple months was probably enough to pay for this.

I mentioned before that I passed on this game even when I saw it listed for $7 or so because I already got it free from PS Plus. I have done some reading on the director's cut version since then though and it sounds like in addition to included DLC and improved graphics they changed things up to make the game play better. Not only that but I rarely use my PS3 these days and I'm much more likely to actually play this game now that I have it on PC.

Great deal! Even though I've completed everything in the main game and DLC twice, I would play the DC version. I don't know about for the PC, but the DC version also offers a second-screen experience (maps, inventory, etc.) on PS3 (with Vita), 360 (smart glass?), and Wii U. However, one of the biggest gameplay refinements was the changes to boss battles. In the original game, you could put all your XP into upgrading augments related to hacking and stealth abilities. But when you got to a boss battle (especially on higher difficulties), you were screwed if you didn't upgrade (and carry in your limited-sized inventory) your most lethal weapons and upgrade your combat and gun-related augments. (They did put decent weapons in the kill room, but that did you little good if you didn't know exactly where to find them while being chased and fired upon.) However, with the DC version, the developers added new ways to take down the bosses without engaging in direct combat that take advantage of Jensen's stealth and hacking skills when upgraded enough

On a related note, I just discovered my Amazon PS4 bundle deal included 600 coins ($6) for their app store. Last time I had free coins, they disappeared before I got around to using them. So now I'm actively researching mobile games to buy sooner than later. In the process, I came across Deus Ex: The Fall, which was released at the beginning of the year and got pretty good reviews. Unfortunately, it's $6.99 in Amazon's app store, but I can get it from Google Play for a measly 99 cents. So in spite of my 30+ games I now have to play on my new PS4, I may be spending the holiday season playing a mobile game on my tablet. lol

PS4 at Walmart for $330. In store only.
I smell a permanent price drop on both consoles in the next 6-8 months. Or at least an upgraded SKU for the PS4. I feel like some of these deals that ship the vanilla version of the PS4 with a free game code or two are designed to clear out the 500 GB model this holiday season.

The Gamefly end of the year sale (console games) is live now.

Too soon to include current-gen games or is that a different sale?

On the PS3 side, decent prices on Diablo III and Murdered Soul Suspect. But $14.99 for Ratchet & Clank Into the Nexus?! That's not even a full game (only a 4-5 hour-long campaign), and it normally sells for around $15 or less new on Amazon.

That sale doesn't specifically list PS4 and Xbox One games but those are always available too. Click buy, then PS4, then used best sellers. There isn't much available right now but their typically is during these sales.

For whatever reason the website has it organized weird. I first heard about the sale via email and they had X1/PS4 games on sale.

Speaking of sales, Origin is having a big one right now. Deals include Titanfall for $10, Simcity for $10, the Mass Effect Trilogy for $15, and most notably, Battlefield 3 for $.99. More can be found at the link below

Bioshock on the iPad from what I've heard is pointless without a controller, and then if you're using a controller then why the hell are you playing it on an iPad? May as well just play on console/pc. XCom's controls are well suited for iPad, and I can't speak to Civ as I haven't played a Civ game, although I do plan on changing that very soon. I installed Civ 5 on my computer recently. I haven't actually OPENED it yet, but I'm planning on it if I can get in the mindset to play it.

PSN Flash Sale alert. No wonder this week's Holiday Sale offerings were so poor.
Though I've seen much better prices on the newer release titles than in this Flash Sale. But I'm tempted by full seasons 1 and 2 of TWD for $6.25 each. I'm also eyeballing Tales from the Borderlands for $15.99.

If the first episode is any indication, I think Tales From the Borderlands will be worth your money at that price. I was pretty impressed with it.

Merry Christmas all. Watch Dogs is on sale for $19.99 for current gen consoles.

Amazon product ASIN B00BI83EVU
Alternatively, Gamestop has WD for $19.99 on ALL consoles (well, except for Wii U)

Tempting, as that game really piqued my interest when it was released. But I get the sense I'm already playing Ubisoft's best open-world release of 2014 (Far Cry 4), and I'm not sure I'll have it in me to do another (lesser) one any time soon, as much as I'm enjoying FC4.

Seems like those Telltale games will be a better way to spend my grandma's Xmas money this week (hard to believe, but my grandmother, who is in her mid-90s, still sends me a check for birthdays and Xmas)
