I just had voom installed and everything is working great. I have been reading posts for about two weeks before I decided to go with Voom. The installer was very knowledgable. I live in greenfield Indiana ( 25 miles east of downtown Indianapolis). We are receiving a 95-96% signal and all of our local OTA channels. He even instructed us to wait about an hour to allow the stb to download all of its info. He told us to just tune into one cannel and watch it for an hour before channel surfing. I was impressed he came out on a Sunday. :)

Welcome

Welcome to the forums i also have reading these fourms for a few weeks and will be a Voom customer soon i hope you like your Vooming. :D

Welcome!

I live in Indianapolis and I also have Voom. My install did not go well, but I knew how to fix everything to get it to work right. I get all of the OTA channels except for Channel 4. Can you get Channel 4?

A person named Teresa York from Installs, Inc (I think, not sure!) did my install. The antenna and the diplexer (power divider) was defective. Installs, Inc. would not give me a good OTA antenna. Therefore I had to use my own antenna.

I can not get Channel 4 or 29. I'm 30 miles from channel 29. It is hard for me to believe you can get channel 29. What kind of antenna are you using?

The standard antenna that came with the dish. I had an installer named Jeremy from future home tech come out. They are out of the south side of Indy. It was scheduled through Installs. I called the company directly after it was scheduled and spoke with them directly. I was actually scheduled for this Friday and talked them into doing it on Sunday. I promised the tech a nice tip if they did it on Sunday.

There is no such thing as a standard antenna. There are many types of antennas that are installed. It depends on the installer and your location.

What kind of OTA antenna are you using? If you don't know what kind it is then explain what it looks like. Maybe I can tell from your descritption what kind of antenna you have.

When I said standard antenna I mean the standard model that Voom sends with the dish. I dont know the model name. It has its own post that comes off of the dish post.
I just went outside and found a model name and number on the diplexer. It is Wineguard model DP3020.

I know what your talking about but I am not an expert on antennas. I didn't realize that voom used different antenna for different installs. I don't think there is any need to be condescending. I was just trying to answer your question the best I can. Th antenna is a wineqard. The best i can tell it is the sensar model. The one with the built in amp that uses power from the stb. The anten has two fins (one on each side).

voom does only have 2 standard antenna well they used to no they only use the winegard senser unless they approve you for a different but for the standard antennait is the winegard.

Teresa York also did my installation. I have had no problems and everything is working great. Im not sure why you're trying to give her a bad name, her service towards me was excellent, she was very informative and helpful, maybe you should check your attitude towards people.

welcome to all the "new Voomers"!

and, just ignore the "attitudes" you will read alot in this forum; for some reason, this forum attracts lots of folks who look for the bad side of EVERYTHING!!

I am a 1 year Voomer, zero install issues, zero billing issues, had poor OTA reception, called and spoke to Voom and the Installtion company, and got an awesum OTA antenna upgrade FREE!

VOOM is no worse than any other service provider in this day and age; its all about how you approach service people; treat them like sh*t, and thats the type of service you will get...

just my .02$$

All I know is that the installer (Teresa York) installed a defective OTA antenna and diplexer and did not even know that they were defective. On the return call she just disconnected the defective parts and left them on my roof. I did not get a working OTA antenna from Voom.

How would you react?

I just read the entire thread. People do have bad experiences. I had one from Voom's installer. You can be nice all you want but the bottom line is, Did you get good service?
I ended up canceling my installation. I wanted the service but the arrogance of the installer was beyond belief. I cancelled the installer and cancelled Voom. Voom didn't care to make it right.
Being patient, kind and accommodating works both ways.
It's only TV.
I tip for good service and I buy from companies that appreciate the business. I also don't condone poor service and bad treatment. Why should you?
If I owned a company, I would want to know what my employees are doing-good or bad.
You guys have no problem questioning others attitudes about this Theresa York. Is it because you had a good experience with your install and this possibly couldn't happen to anyone? Dream on.
I would love to have Voom. I would really like a different installer than the one assigned me. I however, refuse to give any business or a third chance to this company. Money talks.
If you can call Theresa York. Tell her what is being said here. It would be interesting to hear the other side.
I hate Comcast but they treated me much better than Voom did.
I normally post on the FTA forum but this caught my eye.
I will even apologize before I am flamed. These comments are only based on my trouble and not directed to you other posters.

I would file the complaint with Voom over the bad install experience. And then Id fix it myself or get voom to do it. Then Id probably get over it. But thats just me.

Just let me defend myself on this first of all This is not a true statement at all
the situation here was that this gentleman had a antenna in the attic and the antenna that was installed at his home was the wingard which was not defective is just didn't pick up all the channel that the customer wanted to get and the attic antenna was get channel he wanted such as channel 4 will everyone in the indianapolis area know that unless you have a rotor on you antenna you will not get channel 4 . And the last time i check defective part do not have defective writing on the outside and i am not a electronic defective specialist i only know that if they were working at all they were not defective just because the customer is not happy with what they are getting does not mean it is DEFECTIVE. One more thing customer didn't want the antenna removed from his home. so I left it for him

What do we kick around now?

CRT vs LCD vs DLP vs Plasma on Voom
