BTECH just came out with a handheld for GMRS users that's repeater capable and can also be used as a scanner. Nice little radio at a good price, got one for work/home, so far am very pleased. Cannot be programmed for out-of-band use like the other inexpensive dual band radios. The manual is well written so no head scratching on what buttons to push. FCC certified for GMRS.

P.S. I don't work for them, just a satisfied customer. Got mine on Amazon.

The price of the FCC license for GMRS is very steep. Had paid for a license and hardly used it.

I wish you good luck with it.

Let me know how the battery life is. I had purchased some Motorola GMRS that had a very poor battery life.
I bought a pair so that I could use when traveling,I could not get the wife to be proficient with them, I gave up.
